Three Things
Two Things At Once
I just added three items to my website.
A calendar, a “rethought” collage painting, and another collage painting that was not selected by the juror for an exhibition I had hopes for.
I’ve added the 2027 Calendar to my website and if it seems a bit early, it actually is the earliest I’ve begun so far. They are priced at $30 until October and then they’ll increase to $35.
Here’s August for next year.
“Songs of Peace” has twelve abstract landscapes of spaces that are to me, serene. I chose one verse for the entire calendar, Zephaniah 3:17.
The “rethought” painting is one I’d had leaning against the wall for quite some time. Its name was “Stephanie’s Song” and it was painted in response to love and loss.
Yesterday, I taught my granddaughter the word “bittersweet”. We were on a long walk with her little brother. I was recalling all the long walks in the country since she, now age seven, was born.
Both she and her little brother will begin school next week.
I told her I was excited and knew they’d love it, but it was bittersweet. Her little face looked up and with great depth in her eyes, wells of blue, she asked what that word meant.
I explained it’s when you are happy and sad at the same time, sometimes one more than the other, they can “take turns”.
I came home and decided I wanted to give “Stephanie’s Song” more joy, less sorrow.
So, I very tentatively began. I added natural colors, very earthy for her wings and I dressed her in a gown of pure ivory rather than blue.
I gave the painting a new name, “Believer” and just the “turning the page” on this memorable chapter in my life felt like welcome relief.
“Believer” is now available.
A painting inspired by memories of simple Sundays has been added. I’m quite curious over whether she speaks to someone.
Maybe, maybe not.
Just thought I’d share her “Joy on Sunday”with the world.
There are lots of little surprises in this one, surprises like a raven.
I’ve been blessed abundantly with invitations and opportunities for growth. So much so that, I’d love your prayers for ease and assured peace in my creation of new work. I’m a quiet person. To be chosen to share my work in fabulous places is a privilege I sometimes feel I’m never quite fully “trained for”.
Getting word that I was chosen to be the Featured Artist for Art on the Beach at Sullivans Island is exciting and unexpected, two things.
